This is really disturbing: Who would send hate mail to a woman who is offering the choice of adoption, the choice of saving the baby to a woman in distress?

Um.
They got hatemail because they acted as if it was even a valid thing to act as if another human being could be an incubator to you, even though they already made the choice of getting an abortion.
Just because some people can’t have children doesn’t mean that people who DO NOT WANT TO BE PREGNANT should continue their pregnancies.
There’s already thousands of children and young people in the foster/adoption system. Why not adopt one of the older kids, or a child of color, or a disabled child from the SHITLOADS OF CHILDREN ALREADY IN THE SYSTEM?

To test the strength of your “if you want a baby why don’t you just adopt one already in foster care instead of offering to adopt a baby scheduled for abortion” argument let me tell you a story:
You walk on the street and you pass by a house. Through the fence you see a man dragging a 3 weeks old cute little puppy dog into the garden with a bloody club in the other hand. The puppy was clearly undesired so he is about to beat it to a pulp and throw the dead body into the trash.
You remember your daughter and how she really wants to have such a cute little cub. You think about how she would cuddle and love the puppy, the joy in her eyes and how this poor puppy could enjoy a long and happy life in a loving family like yours. So you walk up to the guy and cry over the fence:
- “Hey, Mister! Please do not beat this cub to death! If you don’t want a dog, please just give it to me. My daughter would love to have that dog.”
Wouldn’t it be a nice story, if the man would just hand you the puppy over the fence? But instead, he has a good argument at hand:
- ” I already made a decision and this dog will end in the trash tonight. But hey, don’t worry: if you really want a dog, fetch one of the SHITLOADS OF DOGS ALREADY IN THE SHELTERS!”

Is this still your argument? Or has it suddenly lost it’s validity now that we are talking about animal rights and cute little puppies?

Inventing for Japan

Together, we’ll invent a product and donate the proceeds to benefit the victims of the tsunami.

All of Quirky’s gross profits on the item, as well as all community “influence payments” (10% of indirect sales, 30% of direct sales), will be allocated toward tsunami relief efforts. By participating in this project, you agree to these terms.

Here is my submission:

A dog toy that wakes up to play with your dog while you are at work!

We work long hours and our dog is alone at home bored and depressed. Our dog has many toys lying around but passive toys do not get Fido’s attention. Fido’s playfulness is based on his hunter instincts. In order to get Fido to play with the toy the toy has to start moving from itself.

My idea is  battery driven programmed toy that will wake up during the day and initiate some action!

With chew proof thick rubber protective skin and simple mechanics it will be hours of fun for the bored dog.

See, discuss and vote for the best ideas and remember that all profits go to help the Japanese people rebuilding their destructed lives.
