The Ziegler Merkur is a tunnel fire rescue shuttle. It has two fully functional cockpits on either end and has no need for time consuming turns in narrow tunnels. The driver just walks to the other cockpit inside the truck and can zip out of the smoke flooded tunnel as fast as it entered it. With an overpressure smoke protected cabin and plenty of air on board it can evacuate up to 12 people in one run.
The Ziegler is fully electric powered, equipped with infrared and low light navigation equipment and can move into a smoke filled tunnel where conventional combustion engines already suffocate.
