My Granny no longer sees very well so she stopped watching TV. But she loves listening to the radio. It keeps her in touch with the outside world.
Last time she let her old radio fall I spent a full day shopping to get the simplest radio with the fewest and largest buttons but I am still not happy. Radios these days have tiny buttons and are stacked with useless features. Press the wrong button and now you have to listen to Radio Polka until one of your grand children drops by next week. Carelessly listened too much? Now you are out of batteries and cut from the world until someone helps you replace those.
The Granny Radio is sturdy and simple radio with only 6 large preset buttons and a single volume control knob:
- the channel preset buttons won’t accidentally re-program the radio no matter how long or short you press them
- the volume control knob also acts as an ON/OFF switch
The buttons for tuning/programming the radio channels are behind the cover so you will not re-program the presets accidentally. The sturdy little radio comes with a charging station: set the radio in the cradle to charge. Take it with you and listen wherever you want. No more guessing battery sizes. No more fumbling with the tiny screws or lock mechanism to open the battery hatch.
The sturdy housing is moderately water proof and will not brake if it falls from the kitchen counter.
A forgiving radio to love and listen to.
