The cure for depressed and overweight pets: a toy that wakes up to play with your pet while you are at work! The Problem We work long hours and our dog is alone at home bored and depressed. It would be important to get Fido playing because low activity results depression and obesity in pets. We have many toys lying around but as they do nothing they do not capture Fido’s attention: A dog will not care for a ball standing still in the middle of the room. But every dog will chase after a thrown ball. Fido’s playfulness is based on his hunter instincts. In order to get Fido to play with the toy the toy has to start moving. The Invention A battery driven toy that will wake up during the day and initiate some fun! 1] Turn on the toy before leaving the house 2] The toy will remain idle for an hour 3] When the toy becomes active it will wiggle it’s tail, bark and attract attention 4] Dog gets interested, plays with toy 5] Toy shuts down itself, becomes idle again for 2-3 hours before starting again With chew proof thick rubber protective skin and simple mechanics it will be hours of fun for a bored dog. One of my earlier concept designs: a self rolling timed ball to play with your pets while you are away. The outer ball (red) consists of 2 separable hemispheres. Within those hemispheres is a small battery driven chariot. If the chariot is turned on it will rotate it’s wheels for a few seconds - the go idle - rotate again and so on until turned off. This will swivel and drive the enclosing ball to roll back and forth in the room and attract the attention of your cat or dog. A safe way of keeping your cats from becoming too lazy at home while you are at work. View Larger

Inventing for Japan

Together, we’ll invent a product and donate the proceeds to benefit the victims of the tsunami.

My idea is  battery driven programmed toy that will wake up during the day and initiate some action!

With chew proof thick rubber protective skin and simple mechanics it will be hours of fun for the bored dog.
